Trip to the Morgan Library

Today the Janus Collaborative School of Art took a trip to the Morgan Library, located on 225 Madison Avenue.  With the assistance of Dan Thompson we set out on a mission to recreate, and in so doing, learn from Old Master Drawings.  The trip was an inspiration to us all.  It was a great learning experience to see and analyze how artists of the past handled different mediums and applied each stroke to build the masterpieces that were before us.

Here are just a few of the drawings that we came across:

To follow-up Dan’s structural discussions on the skull and to complement the portraits we have been working on during our sculpture weeks with Steve Perkins, Dan did a drawing demo of Sesame’s portrait today!
